A leading international contracting joint venture has recently won the electro-mechanical works package for a prestigious mall project in Dubai.
The joint venture is seeking a Project Manager to head up its site. Reporting to the Project Director, you will be ideally aged 40 - 45 plus with at least 20 years experience in electro-mechanical contracting and a proven track record over the last 10 years of successfully completing large-scale electro-mechanical contracts with a value in excess of US$ 100 Million. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
Major Responsibilities:
¨ Fully in-charge of a Major Electro/Mechanical Project to ensure successful achievement of project mission statement and goals and be responsible for all day-to-day activities. ¨ Follow up with various departments such as Commercial, Engineering, Construction etc. in all Project related matters and all supporting departments of the operation of the Project. ¨ To ensure a successful completion of the Project within the budget and on time. ¨ Responsible for planning and scheduling of all major activities of the Project to achieve timely completion of the Project. ¨ Fully responsible for all contractual issues related to the day-to-day running of the Project. ¨ Responsible for managing a Staff/Labour of around 2000. ¨ Receive, transmit and arrange for the implementation of all the decisions of the Management Committee under the instruction of the Project Director.
On a day to day basis
¨ To be overall responsible for overseeing and effective execution of all project related activities under the instructions of the Project Director. ¨ To ascertain all Project requirements (Technical and General). ¨ To ensure the timely submittal of all project submittals and obtaining approvals. (Samples, Shop Drawings, Design Details, Work Procedure, Method Statements, Schedules, Programs etc.) ¨ To arrange timely obtaining of all clearances, approvals, permissions, etc as may require from time to time from any of the statutory authorities during the execution of the Project. ¨ To schedule and plan all project activities in line with Master Program in co-ordination with the Planning Engineer. ¨ To receive all project related instructions from the Client, Engineer, Main Contractor, etc and transmit, communicate and arrange effective action in co-ordination with the Project Director. ¨ To give all notices, etc to the Client/Engineer/Main Contractor under the instructions of the Project Director. ¨ To attend all project related meeting with Client/Engineer/Main Contractor and reporting back to the Project Director on the proceedings as well as to attend all project related JV meetings. ¨ Assignment of all project related activities to all resources under the direction of the Project Director. ¨ To evaluate the requirement of all project resources (materials, machinery, manpower) as per schedule and arrange for the availability of the same. ¨ Planning and scheduling of resources (material, manpower etc.) Resources Mobilisation. ¨ Arrange and supervise all project related logistics. ¨ To submit queries (Technical or other wise), RFI’s etc. as may be required by the project staff to the Client /Engineer/Main Contractor. ¨ To receive and transmit to the project team all clarifications as may be required from the Client / Engineer/Main Contractor. ¨ To arrange for measurement of work done and arrange for timely invoicing and to follow up on the certification of the same. ¨ Follow up on receivable and collection. ¨ To submit timely project progress and status report to the Project Director and the Management Committee. ¨ To ensure monitoring and maintenance of time sheets and attendance sheets of the Project team. ¨ Contract Administration and to deal with all contractual issues (in conjunction with the Contracts Manager). ¨ Prepare and submit claims (time and monetary), variation, etc. to the Engineer as appropriate (ditto). ¨ To ensure proper co-ordination between project Accounts Staff and the Project Team, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, etc and ensure timely release of payments, etc. ¨ To ensure compliance of all Project safety issues in co-ordination with the safety Officer/Staff. ¨ To ensure compliance with all testing and commissioning and handing over formalities as may be required under the Contract. ¨ To arrange for and timely submittal of all post contract submittals such as as-built drawings, Guarantees / Warranties, Operation Manuals etc. ¨ To request and receive handing over and Completion letters. ¨ To request to submit project final accounts and arrange for the certification of the same. ¨ To set up defects liability work guide lines and arrange defects liability project team. ¨ Any other assignment or duty as may be delegated by the Project Director from time to time.
Candidate spec: · Aged 40 plus. · Professionally qualified, experienced, well versed in all technical & contractual matters, dynamic, result oriented and capable of working on your own initiative and independently. · Excellent command of spoken and written English (fluency in Arabic would be an advantage). · BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. · A least 20 years experience in electro-mechanical contracting with extensive experience on large-scale electro-mechanical contracts with a value in excess of US$ 100 Million, ideally with a minimum of 5 years experience in the Middle East (preferably Dubai). · Experience with ICE/FIDIC forms of contract and subcontract. · Experience with dealing with cost and contractual matters at a site and executive level. · Computer literate (MS Office & preferably Primavera P3). · Current driving licence. · Availability – preferably immediate.
Remuneration and salary will be commensurate with experience.
